We Miss You, Scott

As if you needed another reason to be depressed about the trades, Scott Kazmir made his debut for the Montgomery Biscuits (?), and pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, 1 HBP, no runs, and striking out 8. Victor Zambrano goes for the Mets on Thursday against the Brewers. I need a beer.

It can't be said enough: Scott Kazmir is a better pitcher RIGHT NOW than Victor Zambrano. There will never be a year -- never, ever -- in which Kazmir is not a better pitcher than Zambrano. The only reason you wouldn't bring up Kazmir and stick him in the major league rotation ahead of Zambrano is because you're protecting the future of a 20 year old potential ace. But the Mets just traded away that future, so I guess we're not much interested in protecting it!

Kazmir could and would get major league hitters out right now, and he'll do exactly that when the D-Rays call him up September 1.

What a fiasco.

I agree, Sam. I'm still bummed by the trade days later, and can't drum up any interest in these meaningless games.

The only thing that angers me about the deal isn't so much that Kazmir was traded, but that he was traded for less than what the Mets could have gotten solely on Kazmir's projected-value and hype. But to say they traded away their future is not true. Yes they did trade away one of their future PROJECTED aces, but they had a deep farm system before the trades were done and still do, granted a little lighter now.

I am just confused and confounded by why the Mets decided to take this course when Kazmir could have been the centerpiece of a bigger trade that could have netted them a Zito or someone along those lines. The point of dealing your blue chips is to parlay them into bigger players. Not to deal them for reclamation projects.

Apparently, Rick Peterson is the most important man in the franchise, as he went to Jim Duquette and basically requested this trade.

He said he noticed a flaw in Zambrano's delivery and could "fix" him in ten minutes.

Why we trade our best prospect for someone who needs to be fixed, is beyond me.

My general problem is with the upper and middle management, or mis-management as it were, that the Mets have. They continually trade young talent for marginal major league players.

This trade was just a symptom of the bigger disease that exists with the Mets, and that disease is Fred Wilpon. Welcome to 1993 kiddies, enjoy the mediocrity.

How or where can I get Fred Wilpon's email adress so as we can get this guy to sell the team.
