My New Site

Hey everybody. You've probably realized that I haven't been posting very frequently for the past few weeks. Well, the good news is that I've been working on a couple of new Mets projects that I think you're really going to like. I'm only going to tell you about one of them now; I'll tell you about the other one when it's finished and ready to go. I'll give you a clue, though: it involves the Mets and some of the best writers out there.

The first new project is a new blog called Amazin' Avenue. It's a member of the SportsBlogs family of sites, which is a great community of sites that is constantly expanding. The best part of the new blog is it offers everyone the ability to contribute to the dialog in ways you never could here at SaberMets.

SaberMets, in name only, will not see much action. Its spirit will live on at Amazin' Avenue, where most of my blogging will take place from now on. More good news: I'll actually be posting new content to Amazin' Avenue virtually every day! No more week-long (or more!) lulls in content anymore. So head on over there and check out the new digs. I will keep SaberMets around for the foreseeable future, as it provides a nice glimpse back at what came before.

Any questions, I can be reached at sabermets[at]gmail[dot]com, or AIM screenname SaberMets. See you all on the flip side.

This Is Me Talking

Over the weekend we recorded the first of hopefully many conference calls for MetsDaily.com's "In The Studio" feature. Myself, along with Andrew from Chuck N Duck and Mike from The Metropolitans, were tossed some softball questions about the upcoming Mets season, and basically all said the same things.

It was fun, though, and I look forward to doing it again. You can hear the call directly by clicking this link, or just visit metsdaily.com to click the link there. I haven't listened to it myself because I'm horrified by the sound of my own voice, but definitely go check it out. I'm open to critique, so please feel free to submit advice on how I should make less of a fool out of myself next time. Cheers!

Bloggy McBloggerson

A couple of new Mets blogs have popped up that I figured I'd let you know about id you didn't already.

Brian Doyle has a new blog called Straight Flushing. He's been previewing the rest of the NL East, so go check it out.

Steve M also has a new blog called Simply Amazins. which definitely looks promising so far. Stop by and say "Hi!".

I am in the process of updating the Mets blog links on the right. If you know of a Mets blog that I have missed, please let me know. Just for the record, "Disabled List" is not meant to disparage those blogs, but merely to indicate those that are/were not updating regularly. I apologize if anyone thought otherwise and was unnecessarily offended. If I thought your blog was crap I wouldn't have linked to it in the first place.

Mets Fantasy Camp

If you haven't done so already, you should go read Eric Brown's blog. He just got finished spending five days at the Mets Fantasy Camp in Port St. Lucie, Florida, you know, the one they're always hocking on TV during Mets games. The blog really is a great chronicle of one man living out his dream. Stop by and say "Hi".

Metropolitan's Musings

Steve Costello has a new Mets blog called Metropolitan's Musings. He has a nice article up detailing his case for why Carlos Beltran is overrated. Stop by and say Hi.

Chuck 'n' Duck

Andy Hintz has a new Mets blog called Chuck 'n' Duck. From the looks of his first few entries, it'll be a good one. Hopefully his eternal optimism will get us through the offseason.

Disgruntled Blog

John Moscariello has a new Mets blog called Rumblings of a Disgruntled Mets Fan. No doubt we all feel that way some times (many times). Stop over and say hi.

A Good Day

It's all downhill from here, folks. SaberMets got its first mention on Clutch Hits at Baseball Primer today, which is basically the pinnacle of sabermetrics web journalism. We also just passed the 20,000 visitor mark, which is equal parts humbling and exciting. Thanks to everyone for stopping by and reading, and remember to post your comments and send e-mails, furthering your interaction with myself and with other Mets/baseball fans.

Enough about me, though. If you haven't already visited East Coast Agony, stop by and enjoy. It's actually my new favorite blog. Mike (the Mets fan), has been breaking down the NL East in such a way as to make the Mets come out on top, at least thus far. Watch him work his magic in Part 1 and Part 2, and look for Part 3 later in the week. Great writing, and biting humor as well.
